To cheer ourselves up, Harry said we could watch a film, Jacob said we could play together, Hendrix said we could go out for a walk and April said we could comfort someone. When we feel an emotion, it takes a minute and a half for us to feel an emotion and then it is the thinking time that happens after which makes an emotion linger. We created a lovely weaving craft today. Thank you so much to Carol and Maria for running such a wonderful group.

We learnt bass, tone and slap and how to do a rumble on the drum. The children all created their own rhythm and we did a call and response. We then drummed along to ‘we will rock you’. Cre8ability Session 3
This week we focussed on emotional regulation. We looked at how to manage our emotions. Carol and Maria reminded us of the green for calm, orange for feeling overwhelmed and red for anger bottles. We discussed how we can stop going from calm to angry. There are three words that we focussed on to calm down: time, think and tell. We need to take some time, think about what we can do to calm down and talk to someone, it could be a person or an animal. We need to be careful to not make a decision when we are angry. You are 25 when you have fully developed emotional intelligence. We have big expectations of our young children but they still have a long wait to go to develop in emotional maturity. Today we made a calming glitter bottle to help the children take time to calm down, a worry warrior to talk to and a worry catcher to take your worries away.

It was wonderful to see them helping each other roll it out and using shape cutters to create stars, hearts, flowers, and bunny rabbits. Once baked in the school oven, they packed their biscuits into little paper bags to take home and share with their families.
Cre8ability Session 2
We began our session finishing off our Picasso artwork. Today we thought of words beginning with each letter of the alphabet to link to our emotions. We then discussed feelings and how they can make our tummies feel strange. Jacob said that green is calm, Leonora said orange can make us feel overwhelmed and Eve said fizzy red can make us feel angry. Our aim is to be in green mode but we need to recognise when we are moving into orange so that we can prevent ourselves from moving into red and feeling angry. Our craft this week was using clay. The group all chose their favourite things to sculpt. It was a lovely time for parents and children to spend time with each other and have some fun.

For our final experiment, the children filled a bottle halfway with water and then poured in about 100ml of oil. They then observed the oil float on the water. They were fascinated by this observation. We also estimated the length of a child's intestine during the session, adding to our exploration of the human body. They're eagerly looking forward to next week's experiment with slime.

Week 3 was all about football. We learnt a very important word “control”. We learnt how to stop a moving ball, passing with the correct part of our foot and learning to dribble with control.
Football Practice
This week’s session the children worked on various techniques associated with keeping possession of the ball. The children then took this technique and practised that within their various games that they played; each featuring a different way of scoring such as, multiple goals, dribbling through gates and achieving more than ten passes.
Foodie Friends Funtime Club- Years 3 and 4- Cornflake Cakes
Today, the children followed step-by-step instructions from a short clip and worked in small groups to make cornflake cakes. The most exciting part was when they got to lick the spoon and the mixing bowl!
Week 2 of super sports club
Our second session at sports club we looked at the correct hand position, the ‘W’ position. Then we moved onto using the correct hand position whilst passing the ball. Then we looked at a chest pass followed by a bounce pass. They worked really hard on these two passes before moving on to a game of netball.
Choir singing at the Harvest Service
Thank you so much to Rev Ben for inviting us to sing at the Harvest Service. We are so proud of our choir members and members of Rainbows and Brownies as they sang so brilliantly. Thank you so much for your generous donations to the local food bank.
Foodie Friends Funtime Club
The children had a fantastic time making their very own crumpet pizzas. They enthusiastically took on the roles of mini chefs, skillfully peeling and slicing onions, as well as chopping a red pepper. It was great to see them applying the claw and grip techniques they've learned in previous year groups. For toppings, they chose their own ingredients, they had grated cheese, basil, red onion, pepper, and tomato passata. The most exciting part was when we put the crumpets in the oven. They were all amazed by how little time they needed to prep and cook.
Multi skills sports club
Our first week of multi skills club and what a great time we had! We had lots of different stations set up to practice our fundamental skills followed by a very exciting game of bench ball.
Football Club
This week, football practice started for all KS2 children. The sessions were divided and the children played a variety of football matches with many restrictions placed upon their game in order to target a particular skill set. The children took part in: a two touch passing zone game to target skill within an opposed setting, 1v1 mini games to target and look at attacking and being positive with the ball and finally a game whereby the children had to complete a certain number of passes before being able to score. This worked on space awareness, moving forward with the ball and inclusivity within the game. All the children had an amazing time and showed an amazing attitude towards the game.
Foodie Friends Funtime Club- Years 3 and 4
Our young chefs from Years 3 and 4 made microwave peanut butter and jam brownies today in the Foodies Friends Funtime afterschool Club. The children worked in small groups and followed a recipe. They first discussed the importance of washing their hands and making sure the surface was clean to work on. They then carefully weighed the ingredients and made the mixture. They then poured their well-prepared mixture into a glass dish and popped it in the microwave for 5 minutes. They had an absolute blast and can't wait to come back next week.
After school clubs- Autumn 1
Good morning parents and carers, here is a reminder about the after school clubs for this half term. Some of the clubs are nearly full but there are still places at several clubs. If your child will be attending a sports based club, they will need to bring sports clothes to wear and suitable trainers or football boots for football club. If the club is on their PE day, they can stay in their PE kit. A reminder that the children in Years 1 and 2 need to be collected from the circular infant yard at 3.20pm and children in Years 3-6 need to be collected from the circular infant yard at 3.30pm. If you give them permission to walk home, please message the club leader. A quick note that the performing arts club is for Year 6 at the moment to give them priority for the end of year production and to cast the main parts. However, if we have low numbers then it will be opened to older year groups.
D.T Club- Lion King Props
The Year 4, 5, and 6 students have worked really hard to create props for our end-of-year performance, inspired by The Lion King. They used cardboard to make masks, giving them special designs and paying attention to the little details. They also used paper mache to make African fruits and Pumba's prop. African fruits have been tied to a stick, which they found in our forest school grounds. It adds a realistic touch to the show. They have made caps for Zazu using real feathers from birds. They also used garlands to create a grassy environment using green ribbons. Together, we have created an environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and doing our best. The children's fulfilment in creating props with a real purpose is evident, and their hard work is truly commendable.

The children have taken inspiration from his art work to have a go at creating their own abstract piece to showcase their emotions through line, shape and colour.
Cross Country Club
What a great way to start our new term with our new cross country club! Mud, mud everywhere. The children were amazing and really pushed themselves to achieve their best.
Spring 2 Afterschool Clubs
We know how important it is for children to have a variety of after school activities and we know you feel the same from your feedback on our recent parent survey. However, it has been extremely difficult to provide after school clubs for the last couple of years due to restrictions of having to stay in bubbles and strict government guidance. Fortunately with restrictions easing, we are now in a position to be able to offer a variety of after school clubs starting next half term. Please see the attached document which details the clubs on offer, cost if there is one, the year groups and details of how to sign up. Clubs will be on a first come, first serve basis and there are limited numbers in each club.
