Reception: All About Autumn
This week, the children are learning all about Autumn. They have been very busy in provision creating Autumn faces, hedgehogs and trees. They’ve also been counting different Autumn pictures and matching it to the correct numeral.
Reception: Comparing numbers
Today the children have been comparing numbers using the vocabulary more than, less than and equal. They used weighing scales to see which side had more and less and also made the scales equal using the same amount of cubes.
Reception Outdoor Bowling
Today the children in reception have been practising their bowling skills. They watched a demonstration of how to stand and how to throw the ball using the under arm method. Once they had thrown the bowling ball, they counted how many bowling pins they knocked over. They showed the Christian value of friendship by working together as a team and they encouraged each other.
Year 2 - Maths
Year 2 applying their mastering number knowledge to our work on addition using number bonds to 10. Children used the rekenrek‘s well to ensure their work was correct.
Year 4- The rectilinear shape challenge
Today in Year 4, we took part in the rectilinear shape challenge! Could each team make 6 different rectilinear shapes? Did all the shapes have the same area?
Year 3 Maths- Partitioning
In Year 3 Maths today, the children have practised partitioning numbers into thousands, hundreds, tens and zeros. Some children came up to the front and had a go at writing the numbers in front of the class. The children then had a go at challenging themselves by completing a partitioning worksheet.
Year 4 - Addition - practical and column method
In our maths lessons this week we have been using equipment to help us add two 4-digit numbers. We then moved on to using column addition to help us solve addition problems.
Year 2 - Mastering Numbers
Year 2 - Mastering numbers, quick challenges in maths for quick recall. All the children did amazingly well.
Reception counting to 5
Today Reception have been learning the correct way to count objects up to 5. We can count objects by touching them one at a time or by moving them as we say each number. We also talked about our ‘stopping number’ which is the last number we count in the set that tells us how many there are altogether. The children did so well and could remember how many they had counted altogether in each set.
Year 4 - Exploring Roman Numerals
We learned the Roman numerals to 100 this week in Year 4. We then used our knowledge to solve Tarsia puzzles, matching the Roman numerals to the correct number.
Reception: measuring
The aliens have landed in Reception. This week the children will be learning all about ‘aliens love underpants’. One mission the children are completing is to order some alien items. Super learning!
Year 3- Applying geometrical shapes when drawing.
Year 3 have carefully sketched an image of a Diet Coke can, thinking about how hard to press on the page with their pencil, noticing shading and also applying geometrical shapes to their pictures. Great work Year 3!
