Year 4 - Counting in 1000s
On Tuesday in Year 4, we practised counting in thousands while having fun playing a ‘roll the dice’ game. I must say, we were rather good at it too. Congratulations to our top points scorers
Year 2 - Place Value
Year 2 exploring place value and building numbers using base 10.
Properties of Shapes- Year 5
In our maths lesson today, the children have been learning about regular and irregular polygons. They have been working in small groups identifying their properties and sorting them into regular and irregular polygons.
Year 4 - Investigating Symmetry
On Tuesday, our maths work involved using shapes, objects and mirrors to find lines of symmetry. Creating our own symmetrical flags was particularly challenging. We realised that accuracy was important in creating symmetry.
Reception- Map skills
Today we looked at a map from our visit to Blackpool zoo. We discussed the features and what we found. We then gathered our own resources to make a messy map. The children shared this with Mrs Ham and Miss Ashworth and explained how to follow it. Super work!
Year 1 Maths- Telling the time to the hour
Today in Year 1, we have been telling the time to the hour. We read and made o’clock times and had a go at drawing the hands on clocks to represent various o’clock times. We even had a go at matching daily events and activities to the correct times e.g. bedtime at 7 o’clock and starting school at 9 o’clock. Well done Year 1.
Reception Making 10
In Maths, Reception have been focusing on how to make 10 in different ways. They have been using the Numicon to find different pieces that fit into 10 and have been looking at ten-frames to support their learning. They have done amazingly well and can now remember lots of different number bonds to 10 without help! Well done!
Reception Treasure Map Making
As a part of Understanding the World in reception, the children have made a treasure map of our outdoor yard using natural recourses and loose parts. They were amazing at telling us where each area was located in the yard and finding the right materials to represent each part.
Maths- Year 5
This week in maths, the children have been identifying different types of angles and measuring degrees. Today, they were introduced to protractors. They began by measuring angles less than 90 degrees by careful placing the protractor on the baseline and starting at 0 on the inner scale and following it round until we see the line of the angle. They then compared their answers with their partners.
Year 1 Maths- Sharing equally into groups
This morning, Year 1 were introduced to the symbol divide and have been sharing counters and cubes into equal groups.
Year 1 Maths- Making Arrays
