Danger- thin ice and cold water
Good evening parents and carers, during this cold spell, please remind your child of the dangers of walking on or playing near frozen lakes, ponds or reservoirs. We have had reports that some of our school children have been walking or playing around the ice on Jacks Key reservoir and they have been spoken to about the dangers of thin ice and cold water by our teachers. I’m sure you will have all seen the tragic news of the four young boys who have fallen through the ice in Solihull and three of them have sadly lost their lives and the fourth is fighting for his. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and all of the boy’s families. Let’s ensure that this awful tragedy doesn’t happen to any of our local children by reminding them of the dangers of playing near open water. Many thanks for your continued support, Mrs Ham
Carols by Candlelight
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Carols by Candlelight Service. Our choir sang brilliantly and well done to Jenson for his lovely reading. It was wonderful to hear one of previous choir members, Isaac, singing a beautiful solo too. It really does feel like Christmas now.
Year 4 DT - Seasonal Stockings - Part 2
Wowsers- we have had such a productive morning in Year 4 finishing off our ‘ Seasonal Stockings’ . The children have worked so hard developing their different types of stitches. We also managed to embellish them with buttons, ribbon and felt. We can’t wait to show the parents and carers at our Christmas Fair!

Out of School Superstars
Along with our Values Winners this morning, we celebrated our ‘Out of School Superstars’. It was lovely to hear about all of the different activities that the children have been taking part in. This week we presented awards for dancing, gymnastics, swimming, kickboxing, Beavers and cheerleading. Well done to each and every child that celebrated on the golden podium!
Celebration Worship
In Celebration Worship this morning we looked at how our children continue to work so very hard in promoting our Christian and British values. We are all so very busy preparing for the Christmas Fair, school performances and Christmas Worship. We had our House Team Winners announced for this half term - Whitehall Park for the second consecutive time- well done. It is so lovely to see all of the children celebrating each others success as we had lots of awards for out of school sports today.
Inter- House Sports in FS and KS1
What a fantastic opportunity we had this morning taking part in the Inter- House Dodgeball Competition. Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 loved every second and we saw some great sportsmanship and tactical decision making. A huge thanks to The Sports Leaders for organising and running the event too!
Rotakids- Toy Collection
The Year 5 Rotakids have fulfilled their promise of helping the community and the world. Over the past few weeks, the children have been collecting used toys and soft toys for the needy families of Darwen and refugees living in Darwen. Some of the toys will also be sent to children in Ukraine, who have lost almost everything in the war. Amazing achievement from families, staff, and children.
Reception - Making Reindeer Baubles
This week we have made reindeer baubles to sell at our Christmas Fair. The children used their fingerprint for the nose, stuck on googly eyes and made their own antlers out of pipe cleaners. The children really enjoyed making them.
Year 1- Inter house sports event
A massive thank you to our amazing sports leaders for leading a great inter house dodgeball competition this morning. Year 1 had a great time!
Year 6 DT
Year 6 have been analysing different ingredients that they may use in their festive sausage rolls. The children noticed, that when the ingredients are isolated, they may not taste entirely satisfying. However, after watching a video of a chef in action (Jamie Oliver), they noticed that some of these ingredients may complement each other nicely.

Year 6 have worked hard to improve their keyboard skills this week in their music lesson.
