Parent Governor Vacancy
Dear Parents and Carers, just a quick reminder that we have an upcoming parent governor vacancy. The governors play a vital role in supporting and shaping our school and it is a great way to become more involved in the life of our school. Parent governors hold the unique position of having a parental viewpoint of the school. Through their children, they have a first hand experience of the delivery of the curriculum and how the school is perceived from the 'consumers' point of view. Reception: super writing
We have been blown away by the super writing from our Reception class. They are trying really hard in Phonics and have enjoyed writing facts about different sea creatures.
Safer Internet Day-Poster Competition
We will be taking part in 'Safer Internet Day' on Tuesday 8th February 2022 and would like to ask the children to take part in an Online Safety poster competition which is being promoted by Blackburn with Darwen. The children are asked to design a poster about online safety for children and young people. More details are provided on the link below and the closing date is Thursday 10th February. Reception’s special visitor - All about Me!
Today we had a special visitor in Reception called Megan, who came to teach us all about our bodies and how we can keep them healthy. We talked about the parts of our bodies, how we can eat healthily, how to keep fit, our feelings and how sleep can help us grow. We also said a big hello to Harold the Giraffe who enjoyed having his teeth brushed by the children and his face cleaned!
Reception - Rock pools
This week we have read the story ‘Sharing a shell’ by Julia Donaldson which is about the creatures that live in a rock pool. The children really enjoyed the story and have had their own rock pool in the small world area. They have been busy acting out the story with their friends and have talked lots about the creatures we might find there.
Reception: Muddy Monday
Reception really enjoyed their walk today around Jack Keys. The children showed the Christian value of courage whilst climbing over a stile independently. The children enjoyed investigating the marsh land and looked for moles and rabbits!
Reception PE
Reception enjoyed their under the sea themed PE this week. We played a game of starfish tig, had a go at balancing balls on the bats and completed different stations to practise our key skills, such as jumping like a star fish, sliding like a sea snake and walking like a crab.
Reception: the Rainbow fish
This week, Reception are learning all about the rainbow fish. They have been creating their own fish using different collage materials, discussing how the characters may feel in the story and they have been writing describing words about the rainbow fish. The children have also enjoyed creating their own watercolour pictures using wax crayons and water paint.
Reception Muddy Monday
Reception really enjoyed their first muddy Monday of 2022. They enjoyed creating animal houses at Whitehall park. They showed brilliant teamwork as they found different resources to build their houses.
Fun in the snow
Reception class had a very busy and energetic day today! The children loved playing out in the snow this morning. They did some Yoga with our sports coach at lunch time and then had an underwater adventure PE lesson this afternoon. Today we have learned the tricky words ‘into’ and ‘her’ and have thought about sentences we can say with these words in. I’ve told the children to keep their eyes peeled to see if they can spot them in any story books at home.
Reception launches their under the sea topic
Reception are really enjoying the start of their brand new topic! They are starting to learn all about different animals that live in the sea and ocean.
Reception: Maths
The children have been learning to recognise numbers and learning how to accurately draw the correct number of objects. We are blown away with their learning and how independent they are becoming when completing activities.
