Year 2 - Maths
We have moved onto from 2D shapes to 3D shapes. This week we have been counting faces, edges and vertices on 3D shapes. It can be difficult to count without losing count or counting the same one twice. We have found strategies to make sure our counting is accurate.
Reception - Ordering Numbers
Reception have been working hard to sequence numbers 1-10. They have been using their counting skills to check which number comes next to ensure they are in the right order.
Year 1 Maths
Year One are focusing on numbers to 20. They have been identifying and representing numbers in many different ways for example with Rekenreks, Numicon, tally, ten frames and base 10.
Year 3- Maths- Multiply and Divide by 3.
Today, the Year 3 class progressed in their understanding. They explored the concept of division by 3, actively engaging in activities where they shared objects into three equal groups and grouped items in sets of three. Furthermore, they applied this knowledge by drawing jumps on the number line to solve problems involving dividing given numbers by 3.
Year 1 Maths- Using rekenreks
Year 1 have been working hard in their maths lesson this morning. They have been making 11, 12 and 13 using the rekenreks to help them to understand that these numbers are made up of tens and ones.
Reception: Snow much fun!
Our Ducklings loved exploring the snow today! They learnt how to make snowballs and we discussed the shape of them and how they look like balls we throw! We problem solved to build a snowman and enjoyed creating snow angels. The children loved throwing snowballs at Mrs Wilkinson and Mrs Thompson! We had lots of fun!
Year 1-Using Purple Mash on the tablets
Year 1 have been using the tablets to complete their 2dos on Purple Mash today. They really enjoyed using the tablets in class and we’re looking forward to using them more in the coming weeks. They completed challenges linked with 2D and 3D shapes and linked to spelling common exception words.
Year 1 Maths- Repeating Patterns
This week, Year 1 have been exploring 2D and 3D shape patterns. They made their own repeating patterns using 3D shapes.
Year 4 - Maths: Finding Factors
Our multiplication and division topic is in full swing, starting with finding factors and factor pairs. The children used their times tables knowledge or made arrays to support their investigations.
Year 3 - Maths- Making equal groups
This week in their maths, Year 3 have explored various multiplication methods using counters. They have been using concrete materials to demonstrate their understanding of both multiplication and division of given numbers.
Year 1- Sorting 2D Shapes
In maths, Year 1 have been exploring the different ways that 2D shapes can be sorted. They sorted them by their shape (circles, triangles rectangles, squares, pentagons and hexagons) and also by the number of sides and corners that they have e.g. 3 or less sides and 4 or more sides or 4 or less corners and more than 4 corners. Well done Year 1.
Year 2 - Maths
Year 2 have been working extremely hard with their maths work over the past couple of weeks. Today we moved onto subtraction across 10. This can be really tricky but using our number bonds to subtract definitely helped us with our new learning. We played a maths game where we started with 20 counters on our tens frames and slowly subtracted either 1, 2 or 3. We will continue to build on our subtracting skills in our upcoming lessons.
