After-School: Board Game Club
Wow, what an amazing first session of Board Game Club! The children showed all 4B’s, it was lovely to see them all taking turns and sharing. The older children were so great with helping the younger children and teaching them some of the games. They all had such a lovely time.
Forest School Club- Bonfire Night
For our last forest school session we had a bonfire night special. The children got to practise lighting fires safely using the flint and steel. We melted chocolate and made some breadstick sparklers using chocolate and sprinkles. We then finished our session with a hot chocolate or hot Vimto. What a wonderful few weeks we’ve had.
KS2 Football Training
This week, we began our football training for the half term. We focused on game-based sessions with specific rules designed to enhance players’ style of play and support their overall development within the game.
Let’s Go Sing Workshop
On Monday our choir had a fantastic Let's Go Sing Workshop with Rose. She was so impressed with their enthusiasm and fabulous singing! They are looking forward to practising all of the songs ready for their concert in March. Mrs Ham told them about lots of other exciting choir events coming up soon too such as singing at Acer Lodge Care Home, our Christmas Fair, a lantern parade in Whitehall Park and our church Carol Service.
Warhammer club
We started our Warhammer club this week. The children selected the miniatures they wanted to paint before choosing the base colours to paint with. The children did an amazing job covering the models with paint and considering their next steps. These include what details they wanted to paint, which colours they want to use and how they will use washes to add depth and detail.
Half Term Netball & Fitness Camp
Yesterday we held our very first half term netball and fitness camp. The children worked so hard over the course of the day. We started the day focusing on netball drills and skills then moved towards small sided games. Next we worked on our fitness and attempted the dreaded ‘ Bleep Test’. All of the children really pushed themselves to their limits and we ended up with three super fit heroes with Neve, Joshua and Carter completing all 18 levels! After a little rest we then moved onto applying our skills into a game of bench ball which was pretty intense. Following lunch we moved back to netball games with children swapping in and out of positions and then finally moving into a mini tournament. What a fab day we had!
Foodie Friends Club-Making Scones
For our final Foodie Club session this half term, the bakers had a great time making fruit and plain scones. They practised important skills such as weighing ingredients accurately, cutting butter into the flour, and using cutters to shape the scones. They showed great teamwork and enthusiasm, carefully following the recipe and enjoying the hands-on experience of baking. By the end of the session, everyone had created their own beautifully shaped scones, ready to take home and share. The club demonstrates a wonderful example of the children living life in fullness, embracing learning, creativity, and the joy of sharing with others.
DPSSA Girls Football
Our St Barnabas girls’ team did amazingly well today! They showed great teamwork and determination, earning hard-fought draws against St James’ Lower Darwen and St Cuthbert’s, before securing a fantastic 1–0 win against St Paul’s. We’re so proud of their effort, skill and sportsmanship throughout the matches.
KS2 Football Club
Today in Football Club, the children took part in a series of matches with specific challenges and restrictions, such as one-touch finishes, overloads and passing forward. These activities helped them to think strategically, improve their teamwork and develop greater control and awareness during gameplay. Everyone showed great enthusiasm and growing confidence throughout the session.
Craft Club
Over the past 2 weeks we have been making dream catchers at Craft Club. The children decorated the hoops with gems and washi tape, wrapped them with coloured yarn, tied on ribbons and threaded beads. Lots of patience and fine motor skills were needed for this project and everyone did a fab job! We are super excited for our next project: air dry clay mechanical toys!
Foodie Friends club- Yummy Shape Biscuits
At our after-school foodie club, we made some absolutely delicious buttery biscuits. It took lots of teamwork to get the right dough, the amazing bakers spent time weighing sugar and flour, cracking eggs, and mixing .We then used a variety of different shape cutters to make our biscuits. The end result was a lot of fun, and a lot of tasty treats!
The W.O.W. Group - Lego Club Training
Our WOW Group has miraculously grown in size this week! And the room was alive with enthusiasm and excitement as we prepared for our Autumn 2 Lego club. This week, the children learned how to introduce the build, support their peers during the build and help them to reflect afterwards. They experienced a build session, completing their own unique builds that represented what God’s Power means to them. Next week we will be planning our first WOW group-run activity.
