Year 4 Investigating Particles
Year 4 have been using marbles to make models showing how particles move in solids, liquids and gases.
Bread tasting
Year 4 had lots of fun tasting different types of bread for the start of their design and technology unit. They are looking forward to designing and making their own bread shortly.
Fun in the snow
Reception class had a very busy and energetic day today! The children loved playing out in the snow this morning. They did some Yoga with our sports coach at lunch time and then had an underwater adventure PE lesson this afternoon. Today we have learned the tricky words ‘into’ and ‘her’ and have thought about sentences we can say with these words in. I’ve told the children to keep their eyes peeled to see if they can spot them in any story books at home.

Year 1 Art
Year 1 have been exploring line in their art lesson today. They created vertical, horizontal, diagonal, wavy and spiral lines as well as some others. We are working towards producing a piece of artwork inspired by Hundertwasser.
Year 1 Maths
Year 1 have been making numbers between 10 and 20 on their bead strings. They have been looking at ways to do this with more efficiency e.g. for 17, you move 5 and 5 which is 10, then another 5 followed by a 2. Great work Year 1.
Year 3 Epiphany Class Worship
We celebrated the feast of the Epiphany today during our class worship. We watched a video by Bishop Philip who talked about the gifts that the three wise men gave Jesus- gold, frankincense and myrrh. He also told us that we have gifts / things that we are good at from God and that we need to “show” these gifts. We ended our worship by thanking God for our special gifts.
Year 3 superhero dance
In Dance we have been taking on the role of a Superhero and designing movement to music in role with a partner.
Reception launches their under the sea topic
Reception are really enjoying the start of their brand new topic! They are starting to learn all about different animals that live in the sea and ocean.
Reception: Maths
The children have been learning to recognise numbers and learning how to accurately draw the correct number of objects. We are blown away with their learning and how independent they are becoming when completing activities.

Our first worship of 2022: Epiphany
Today, we learnt about the Epiphany. An epiphany is like a lightbulb moment. The 3 wise men or 3 magi had an epiphany about Jesus being born. Mrs Ham read a story called ‘One hump, 2 humps’ which the children really enjoyed acting out. The wise men followed a star to find Jesus. When they arrived in Jerusalem, they asked King Herod where Jesus resides. King Herod was very worried and decided he wanted to meet Jesus. He asked the wise men to tell him where Jesus was. King Herod plotted to kill Jesus. When the wise men arrived at the stable, the wise men gave Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. In the night, the wise men dreamt about King Herod’s evil plan. They decided to not tell King Herod where Jesus was to protect him. The gifts that the kings gave Jesus were symbolic. Gold is a gift fit for a king; frankincense is a fragrance used by a priest and myrrh is a sweet liquid that is rubbed gently into someone who has died. This symbolises that the kings knew God’s plan. Mrs Ham asked the children to discuss what their special gifts are. These could be kindness, showing love and making people smile. The meaning of the epiphany is how everyone is important and God loves everyone.
