Thank you from Children in Need
A huge thank you to you all for putting on your spots and for your generous donations to Children in Need last Friday. You have raised a fabulous £256.50 so have helped to make a positive difference to the lives of many children in the UK.
Advent Art Competition
After the success of last year's Advent Art competition, we have decided to run another one for this Christmas. This is a chance for the children to get creative at home and get into the festive spirit! We are asking the children to create a piece of Art work to show a part of the Christmas story, e.g. The 3 wise men, the star of Bethlehem, baby Jesus - There are lots of ideas online for inspiration. The Art work can be created using a variety of media such as painting, drawing, photographs, collage, etc but we ask that it is no larger than A3 in size and flat enough so that we can laminate them. 24 entries will be selected to go on display at Whitehall Park for an Advent Adventure trail and there are prizes to be won! The deadline for all entries is Monday 6th December, judging will take place shortly after this to select the final 24. Please give any entries to Class Teachers when they are complete.
Class Worship- Year 5
During our class worship this week, we have been discussing the news about one travel company ‘expedia’, who have banned all trips that include experiences with dolphins. We discussed why some people don’t agree with keeping dolphins and whales purely for entertainment.
Year 1- Making Tudor Houses
Year 1 were set the challenge of independently making a Tudor house in the creative area this week. They have used scissors, sellotape, staples, glue and masking tape independently to do this. Well done Year 1.
Year 1- Decorating our Fire Engines
This afternoon, Year 1 added the final touches to their fire engines as part of their D&T unit. They checked that they had included all the key features of a fire engine such as a hose, ladder, windscreen and siren before painting them.
Sacred Books- Year 5
Year 5 have been exploring the importance of sacred books in other religions. We have discussed differences and similarities. Looked at the language that the books are written in and the focus placed upon them.
Y4 Ask Themselves: Who Am I?
In Year 4 today, we marked the start of our linking schools project by thinking about who we are and what we like. We have been decorating bunting to send to our partner class at The Olive School in Blackburn. #TheLinkingNetwork
Wellbeing Wednesday in Year 6
Today during Junior Jam Year 6 have been listening to different 80’s and 90’s music. In computing they explored variables in games and they also built on their dance routine from last week.
Year 6 netball
Year 6 have built on their skills today, they have worked on defending and attacking positions within the game of Netball. Thank you Miss Dovey from DACA.
Interfaith Whole School Worship
In worship today we talked about the importance of having respect and tolerance for others, no matter what their beliefs. We are learning to celebrate each other’s differences.
Winter walk in Whitehall Park
This morning the children have experienced a chilly muddy Monday as we looked for signs of winter. The children have all been touching frost on different surfaces. They have been looking at frozen leaves and have been talking about how the sun melts ice to make water. This morning it was brilliant to hear the children’s knowledge on deciduous and evergreen trees, as we walked underneath them.
Toy’s Party in Reception
Reception class had lots of fun at their Toy’s Party. As part of their learning about celebrations, they all wrote party invitations for their favourite toy and made their own party hats. They played musical bumps, musical statues and musical chairs.
