Year 1- St Patrick’s Day Worship
Today, Year 1 had their class worship on St Patrick’s Day. They watched a video about St Patrick bringing his Christian faith to Ireland by spreading the word of God. We learnt about how the people of Ireland are very thankful for this which is why they have a day in celebration of Him. We learnt that there are lots of parades, singing and dancing on St Patrick’s day and we also learnt that the shamrock in a symbol of Ireland. Lastly, we heard an Irish blessing which was really beautiful and reminded us to take the positives in our lives and be grateful for them. Lots of the children shared positives about their day such as making a big house with a friend, learning a new skill at play time and seeing their teachers.
Year 3 - PE Striking Skills
Year 3 PE - practising striking skills using a racket and a small ball.
Year 4 - Creating Models
Our super scientists in Year 4 have been creating models of the digestive system to help them explain the functions of the major organs.
Year 6- Junior Jam
Year 6 had a great morning with their Junior Jam teachers.
Design Technology
Year 6 have been using paper to test strength in design and technology.
Year 4 - Gymnastics Skills
In gymnastics this week, we have been so impressed with the self- and peer motivation that our awesome Year 4s have used to develop their balancing and travelling skills.
Year 2 Geography
Year 2 have been exploring the school grounds to find human and physical features.
Reception Measuring in Maths
Reception have enjoyed measuring the heights of different superheroes this week, using cubes as a non standard unit. We guessed which Superhero was the shortest and which was the tallest and then used the cubes to check if we were right.
Year 3 Class Worship for Peace

Year 1- Creating a High Visibility Vest
After the year 1 had a visit last week of Andy from Blackburn with Darwen council about keeping safe on the roads, he set the children a challenge to design their own Hi Vis jackets. He had already spoken to them about how they need to be very bright and have reflective panels or parts so that the people wearing them can be seen in the dark. Year 1 have been very busy designing these in the creative area this week thinking very carefully about making them as bright and reflective as possible. Well done Year 1.
French- le visage - Year 5
In french this week, we have been learning the nouns for parts of the face and body.
Hybrid text- Year 5
Year 5 has been inspired by Professor Branestawm inventions and have come up with ideas for their own designs. They have worked exceptionally well and produced some amazing writing: an explanation text, information text and a persuasive text ( hybrid text).
