Reception - PSHE - Looking after our community and the environment.

In our lesson today we looked at the environment and little things we can do to save energy and look after the world around us. We talked about how litter can hurt nature and animals and that if we can recycle our rubbish we can reuse it in the form of a new bottle, or glass or paper. We then had a go at sorting out our rubbish into the correct recycling bins.

Reception: Muddy Monday

Our Reception explorers had a truly magical Muddy Monday this week as we headed out to Whitehall Park for a morning of discovery and fresh air. The forest school area was buzzing with excitement as the children’s imaginations ran wild; it was wonderful to see them transform the natural landscape into their own private playground. A major highlight was our "fire-building" workshop, where the children worked together to collect twigs and sticks, learning how to stack them just right to create their very own pretend campfires. The physical challenges didn't stop there! Many of our brave adventurers took to the skies as they climbed trees, testing their balance and building confidence with every branch. Back on the ground, the woods were filled with the sound of galloping as a group of children pretended to ride horses through the trails, turning fallen logs into trusty steeds. It was a fantastic session focused on teamwork, risk-taking, and the pure joy of being outdoors.

It was lovely to hear all of points and great to see turn taking and listening intently even whilst challenging their peers.

Year 1 PSHE: Passing On The Praise

In PSHE, we have thought about praise and how it makes us feel. Praise is different to compliments as it is based on our behaviour, work and effort. Year 1 said happy, excited, motivated, it makes us smile and feel proud of ourselves. We then made little notes of praise and passed them to each other.

Year 3-Class Worship: Exploring Rail Safety and Electricity

As part of our class worship, the children watched an impactful video from the Rail Safety Education Mapping Tool, which they found incredibly interesting. The session highlighted the tragic story of Harrison, who lost his life after being electrocuted by overhead wires while attempting to retrieve a football. This served as a vital reminder of the hidden dangers near tracks and the importance of staying "Rail Safe." Following this powerful introduction to the topic, we are now eagerly awaiting a visit from the rail industry partners, who are keen to support our school in further embedding these safety messages.

Online Safety: WhatsApp

With its end-to-end encryption and huge popularity, WhatsApp is often seen as a private and secure way to stay in touch; however, that same privacy can make it harder for trusted adults to see when things go wrong. This week's #WakeUpWednesday guide explains how features like group chats, disappearing messages, ‘Channels’ and location sharing can expose young users to pressure, unwanted contact and inappropriate content. Year 4 Lead Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week Worship

This morning, Year 4 led a truly inspiring Whole School Worship, centering their message on Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week. It was a colourful and vibrant start to the day, as all the children arrived 'Dressed to Express.' It was wonderful to see the hall filled with different outfits showcasing the children's unique personalities, hidden talents, and favourite colours—a perfect reminder that being ourselves is key to our wellbeing. The children did an amazing job showcasing their oracy skills. They projected their voices clearly and confidently, ensuring their important message was heard by everyone. The other classes were captivated, listening intently as Year 4 explained the vital link between kindness and mental health. They highlighted how simple acts of kindness are not just good for others, but also boost our own happiness and sense of belonging. The class reminded us all that kindness is a superpower that supports a healthy mind and a happy school community. We brought the worship to a close with some beautiful, thoughtful prayers and raised the roof singing along to ‘My Lighthouse.’ A huge thank you to the parents and carers who came along to support the children; your presence made the morning even more special.
