Year 5 - PSHE

In PSHE, we continued our topic on valuing differences between people by playing a role playing game in which children adopted the role of a speaker, listener and observer in a variety of different scenarios. These scenarios included not being able to hear properly, being too busy to listen and receiving support from a friend. The children then considered how it feels to be listened to or not listened to as well as the moments when it is hard to be a good listener.

Year 6 - Anti-Bullying

As part of Anti-Bullying Week, the children took part in a PSHE session where they explored what bullying is and how it can impact a person’s feelings and wellbeing. They discussed the importance of speaking up, supporting others and helping to create a safe, respectful environment for everyone. The session ended with a fun, hands-on activity in which each child shared something kind about another person before passing a piece of string across the circle. By the end, the whole class was connected by a web of string — a powerful reminder of how kindness can link us all together.

Reception - Birthdays

This week for our topic, we have been learning about Birthday celebrations based on the book Kipper’s Birthday. We have been thinking about how we grow and change as each birthday passes and how we celebrate each year. We have been completing challenges in provision linked to our topic in preparation for an exciting toy party in class on Friday afternoon.

Year 4 - Linking Schools: Who Am I?

Our Linking Schools project in Year 4 is well underway, beginning with a discussion around the question: Who Am I? We played the Speed Name Game and talked about our likes and dislikes. We then decorated a piece of bunting with our names and symbols to represent the things we like. Next, we will be exploring aspects of our identity and sharing our bunting with our linking class.

Whole School Worship - Power for Good

Our theme in today’s collective worship was “Power for Good”. Continuing our focus on Anti-Bullying Week, Mrs Ham shared some of the fantastic answers the children gave on Monday about standing up to bullying. These included saying stop, being assertive, asking why, and telling a trusted adult. We learned of how Jesus was a power for good, even when others turned against him, and we reflected on the ways in which we can also be a power for good by being a good friend and spotting when someone needs our help.  The WOW Group also shared how they are being a power for good, by protecting our planet and leading our school’s Switch Off Fortnight campaign. They shared posters recommending ways to save energy around school, including turning off lights and computer monitors when they are not in use, and they explained that they will be checking how well each class is doing at saving energy every break time and lunchtime during the campaign.

Year 4 - Odd Socks Day

We had some rather whacky sock combinations in Year 4 for Odd Socks Day. The children loved showing off their unique styles. In PSHE, we watched a CBBC video of Andy and the Odd Socks and learned a bit about bullying and how we can ensure we show friendship to others. The children then designed their own odd sock to represent what friendship means to them.

Year 5 - Odd Socks Day

We launched anti-bullying week by wearing odd socks and by discussing how we can help ourselves and other people who are being excluded or picked on. We talked about the different types of power that people can have and how we can use our power to make our world a better place.

Year 6 - Anti-Bullying Week

This week, Year 6 took part in Anti-Bullying Week 2025. Year 6 wore odd socks to celebrate individuality and remind everyone that it’s great to be different. The children also designed their own odd socks, each one showing creativity and spreading positive messages about respect, kindness and standing up for others. Throughout the week, Year 6 took part in thoughtful discussions and activities exploring how we can all use our Power for Good — whether that’s by including others, speaking up when we see unkind behaviour or being a role model to younger pupils.

Collective Worship - Odd Socks Day

This morning we gathered as a whole school and spoke about why we were all wearing odd socks to launch anti bullying week. We celebrated how God created us all unique and special. The theme for anti-bullying week is 'Power for Good' so we discussed the amazing powers that we can show others including kindness, love, respect and friendship. We then watched a special Odd Socks Day video from the 'Living out God's big story' series and reflected on how we can learn from Jesus; to always be kind, forgiving and respectful to others. We then did a fun dancing prayer showing off our odd socks and then went on to sing ‘build up’ and ‘make a difference’.

Year 3- PSHE-Celebrating individuality by wearing Odd Socks

Year 3 kicked off Anti-Bullying Week by wearing odd socks and exploring ways to support themselves and others who might feel left out or picked on. Miss Barnes led the lesson, using a variety of scenarios to help the children understand how they can make a positive difference. They discussed what to do if someone is excluded from a game, if a classmate is called names, or if unkind messages are sent online. The children also considered how to respond when rumours are spread, and how small acts of kindness, such as welcoming a new student at lunchtime, can have a big impact. The lesson provided practical strategies for standing up for each other, celebrating individuality, and fostering a kinder, more supportive school community.
