Year 2 Maths- Missing Number Problems
This morning in Maths, Year 2 tackled missing number problems with great focus and determination. They applied their understanding of the greater than (>), less than (<), and equal to (=) symbols to reason whether the missing number should be greater, smaller, or equal to the given number. The children did a fantastic job, confidently using Base 10 resources to support and scaffold their thinking and explanations.
Foodie Friends Club- Cupcake Baking
During the after-school club, the bakers had a wonderful time baking cupcakes and truly lived life to its fullest. From carefully measuring flour, sugar, butter, and eggs to whisking and mixing with enthusiasm, they took great care in each step of the process. The activity encouraged teamwork, cooperation, and joy, leaving the children proud of both their efforts and the delicious results.
Year 2 Maths
Year 2 have been working really hard in Maths this week! They’ve been focusing on numbers up to 100, practising how to place them accurately on a number line and making estimations when working with blank number lines. Today, the children have been busy comparing numbers and amounts up to 100, using the greater than (>), less than (<), and equal to (=) symbols. They’ve also been exploring the language of bigger, smaller, more, greater, less and fewer to describe and compare numbers and quantities. Fantastic effort, Year 2!
After School Foodie Club- Choc Chip Cookies
Today at the After-School Club, Years 3 and 4 bakers made delicious chocolate chip cookies. They carefully weighed out the sugar and flour, and the children especially loved cracking the eggs, one of the highlights of the session. Apparently, one of the best cookies they've ever had!
Year 4 - Times Tables
Look at those proud faces! Our rockin’ Year 4s have had a fantastic start to their TT Rock Stars journey. They trialled some of the single player games and earned coins to spend on their rockstar avatars. We talked about the benefits of doing our times tables little and often, but I think it’s going to be more hardworking keeping some of the class off this app!
Year 1 Maths - Recognising numbers as words
In our maths session this morning, we focused on recognising numbers as words. We did lots of chin it and spin it then we moved onto learning the ‘Number Word Rap’. The children were super enthusiastic especially when completing the independent activities. We found it quite tricky to spell the words, especially the longer ones, but we really persevered.
Year 2 Maths- Flexibly Partitioning Numbers to 100
Today in their maths lesson, Year 2 flexibly partitioned numbers to 100. They successfully used base 10 and a part-whole model to support them with this mathematical concept- well done Year 2!
Year 3- Maths-Our First TTRockstars Session
In maths today, the children logged on to TTRockstars for the very first time, and they absolutely loved it! They had fun choosing their very own Rockstar names and avatars before getting started with the games. During the session, they practised a wide range of times tables through fun, fast-paced question games. The platform automatically adapts to each child’s learning needs, helping them to improve their recall and speed with multiplication. It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and motivated in their maths learning.
Year 2 Maths- Telling the Time to the Hour and Half Past the Hour
Year 2 have enjoyed learning to tell the time to the hour and half past the hour on an analogue clock. They have not only practised reading and making times, but have also worked hard to draw their own clock hands—carefully distinguishing between the shorter hour hand and the longer minute hand.
Year 2 Maths- Using Manipulatives to Build and Represent Numbers
In Maths this week, Year 2 have been revisiting and deepening their understanding of how to use manipulatives—such as Rekenreks, Base 10, and ten frames—to build and represent numbers.
Year 4 - Times Tables
We are hot on times tables in Year 4 and the practice has started already. The children thoroughly enjoyed a game of Roll and Race this week. They had to roll the dice and complete a corresponding times table from the grid. They worked in teams to see if they could be the first group to complete the grid. It was a furious race to the finish, but the children worked brilliantly, supporting each other to work out the answers.
Year 3- Maths- Representing Numbers to 100
Our lesson today focused on representing numbers up to 100. Year 3 particularly enjoyed our starter activity, 'Chin It Spin,' which was a great way to get them thinking and working together. They then worked incredibly hard using a variety of resources, including Base Ten equipment, to build and understand different numbers. It was a hands-on and engaging session that showed just how ready they are for a year of learning.
