Year 4 - French: Vacances

Today’s French lesson in Year 4 was all about ‘les activités de vacances’. The children learned some new vocabulary about things we might do while on holiday and then they shared their opinions about these activities in French, using the familiar vocabulary: j’adore, j’aime, je n’aime pas, je déteste.

Year 1 French- Parts of the Body

This week, Year 1 French kicked off with a fun review of the days and months. We then introduced body parts, and the children absolutely loved singing "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." What a fantastic session!

In French this week, year 6 recapped colours and shapes. They then applied this to describing flags of the world. They sang songs, worked in pairs, completed word searches and also played "Guess My Flag."

Year 3- French - Language and Culture

Today in French, the children began by exploring some interesting facts about French culture, then moved onto reviewing numbers through a song and game. They revised animal and number vocabulary by answering questions like ' What animal is it?' and 'How many are there? and recapped key grammar points such as adjectival agreement.

Year 6 Junior Jam - French

In French, Year 6 have been revising their work on jobs and also the names of items of furniture we might find in our home. They sang songs and played games to help them remember the key vocabulary. Tres bien!

Year 6 really enjoyed their sessions with Junior Jam this week. In French, the children learned the names of jobs in French and had to write sentences containing these job names. In computing, the children were tasked with designing a new banner for the Junior Jam website, using the Logo Founder app. We have moved on to learning how to play a glockenspiel in music, creating our own 8-beat phrases.

Year 1- Music and French

During Junior Jam this week, Year 1 were introduced to a new instrument in music- the glockenspiel. They learnt a little about the instrument as an introduction and how it’s struck to produce the correct sound. Over the next few weeks, they will learn to play simple songs on it. In French, Year 1 had fun learning how to say the names of different types of fruits and vegetables and applying this to a game that they then played.

Reception class had a wonderful lesson with Junior Jam this week. They were taught how to say hello, goodbye and thank you. They also learnt how to count to 5 in French. Bien joué!!

Year 6 really enjoyed their Junior Jam French lesson, this week! The children were learning French words and phrases to do with places in town and prepositions to describe position and direction. They had to use a town map and explain whether a description was true or false, then they played a game where someone had to guess the place being described by the rest of the class.

Today Year's 3 lesson in french focused on numerical and colour vocabulary. The children practised counting from eleven to twenty (recap from the last lesson) and reviewed colour terms.

Year 1 Junior Jam- Music, French and Computing

Year 1 had great fun in their Junior Jam sessions this week. They focused on tempo in music, counting forwards and backwards to 10 in French and composed music in computing.

During French with Junior Jam, the children revisited their previous learning, practising phrases like "How many?" and "How old are you?" in French. Today, they learned how to ask "How are you?" in different ways, expanding their vocabulary. They were brilliant and showed great progress with their French-speaking skills.
