The Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 classes had such a good night. The children enjoyed their pre-ordered meal whilst watching the magical and enchanted Disney film ‘Encanto’.
Reception Muddy Monday
The rain didn’t stop our Muddy Monday! This week the children went to Whitehall Park to visit the rose garden. The rose garden has a selection of Easter art work that our whole school have created. The children really enjoyed looking at the different pieces.
Worship with the Kindness Coach
In our whole school worship this morning we welcomed the Kindness Coach, John Magee, in to talk about our kindness challenges over this half term. He was overwhelmed with all the kind acts we have been doing at St Barnabas and he spoke to us about continuing to be kind throughout our lives. Thank you to John for visiting our school.
RE
Today Year 6 have had a respectful discussion regarding appropriate words they can use to describe Jesus, reflecting his actions. They then built on these words by giving an explanation to justify their opinion.
Movie Night - RotaKids
The reception,Year 1 and Year 2 have had an absolute blast watching the Disney film ‘Luca’. It was a funny film which had elements of friendship, courage, and acceptance. The night was organised by the RotaKids to raise money for their latest local project.
Reception Police Officer Visit
Reception were so excited to meet PC Ros and PC Gail this morning. They learnt about the important jobs police officers have to do and the equipment they use. Some of the children tried on parts of the police uniform and practised using a police radio to report and emergency. Afterwards, they went outside to see a real police car and sat inside with the flashing lights and listened to the very loud siren.
Easter Egg Appeal
Good morning parents and carers, we have been contacted by DARE (Darwen Asylum and Refugee Enterprise) as they are in urgent need of Easter Eggs to ensure that refugees in our community have a cracking Easter. Some of the children suggested buying an extra Easter egg this weekend or gifting one of their own Easter eggs. If you would like to help to make a child's Easter, please send in an Easter Egg by next Wednesday. Many thanks for your continued support, Mrs Ham
Whole School Celebration Worship
Today for our Celebration worship we celebrated lots of achievements across school. We have come to the end of our Kindness Challenges, but talked about how important it is to continue to show the kindness we have been showing the last few weeks, even without our daily reminders. Our cross country team shared their achievements from the DPSSA cross country competition yesterday, with some of the boys and girls winning 1st and 2nd place - Well done! We also had many children sharing their own personal sporting awards in horse riding, Olympic sport clubs, martial arts and a pentathlon. All of our class teachers shared how the children have been living life in all its fullness through our curriculum this week, with talks of perseverance, diversity, success and ensuring we show respect to everyone in school. What another brilliant week!
Farm school
Farm school welcomed into school a 2 day old baby goat this week. All children had the chance to choose a name for him which was selected from a bucket. The winner was ‘pebbles’ chosen by Seb. Farm school children also painted their chicks and carrots, planted peas and made art work for Farmer Georgie to take and put up on her farm. At the end of the class each child was presented with a certificate, we have all had so much fun, the children have been brilliant with all of the animals and shown kindness and respect throughout. Well done Farm School!!
