Year 6 Junior Jam - French, Music and Computing
Year 6 have enjoyed another fantastic morning with Junior Jam, today. In French, the children revised vocabulary relating to members of their family, verbally rehearsing and then writing sentences about who they lived with and where. In music, they learned how melodies in a song can portray emotions, writing and composing melodies of their own on the glockenspiels. Computing this week was all about web design, and the children were tasked with creating a new web page for Junior Jam.
Year 5 - French
In French, Year 5 learned how to express opinions such as ‘I like’ and ‘I don’t like’ on a range of hobbies such as photography, dancing, karaoke, watching television and reading. They practised reading, writing and speaking French through a variety of classroom activities.
Whole School Worship - Agent Ananias
We learned about a very special mission given by God this week in worship. God directed Ananias, a disciple in Damascus, to heal Saul of his blindness and baptise him. Despite Ananias's fear due to Saul's reputation as a persecutor of Christians, he obeyed the Lord's assurance that Saul was a "chosen instrument". Ananias laid hands on Saul, restoring his sight, and then baptised him, marking his dramatic conversion from persecutor to the apostle Paul, a key figure in spreading Christianity. We reflected on what we learned from the story and the children shared their thoughts, including that we should trust God’s choices, and that everyone has the ability to change.

Year 4 - Science: Researching Habitats
This week our Year 4 scientists were working scientifically by conducting research to answer questions about habitats. Each group was given a habitat and asked to use the National Geographic site to answer the following four questions: Which animals live there? Which plants live there? What is the climate like? What are the conditions? The children then used their group research to present their findings in their books.
Year 4 - Class Worship
In order to support the children’s understanding of this week’s worship theme, the Year 4s listened to the story of Ananias and Saul again. They discussed why God chose Saul to spread the word about Jesus, especially after spending a lot of time persecuting Christians. The children thought about the benefits and dangers of giving someone unexpected an important job. They recognised that the message meant more coming from a former non-believer. The Year 4s were then chosen for a special mission of their own: to be agents of respect. Their job will be to look out for anyone treating our spiritual garden with respect and nominate them for some extra value points. They are looking forward to announcing their nominations next week.
Year 5 - Music
The Year 5 class wrote and performed songs on the glockenspiel. The children wrote lyrics about the things they love and showed courage and skill performing in front of the whole class.
Year 5 - PSHE
In PSHE, we studied the factors that make positive relationships. We discussed what a positive relationship looks like and how trust, honesty, respect, fun, kindness, and safety are key ingredients for a ‘relationship cake recipe.’
Football Club
This week at Football Club, the children took part in game-based sessions, giving them the opportunity to showcase and refine their skills in realistic match situations. They worked on teamwork, communication, and tactical awareness, all in preparation for the upcoming league fixtures.
Year 6 - Investigating Circuit Outputs
This week in Science, Year 6 experimented with circuit building. The children investigated the effects that adding multiple bulbs has on a simple circuit, observing how the brightness of the bulbs changed as more components were introduced. They worked collaboratively to test their predictions, identify patterns and draw conclusions about how electricity is shared within a circuit.
Reception: A Helicopter Discovery
Whilst playing outside, the children saw a helicopter. It was collecting water and transporting it over the moors. They were amazed and asked lots of questions to find out more about its special job.
Reception: Elmer challenges
This week the children are reading Elmer. They are learning to retell the story and have completed some wonderful challenges. They have created their own elephants for an Elmer parade, learnt how to create different patterns in our mark making area, created patterned elephants using printing in the paint area and decorated Elmer crowns for our Elmer parade.
