This week Year 5 have been looking at what the bible is and where it came from. We sought to answer these following questions to gain a deep and detailed understanding of what the Bible is:
Where does the bible come from?
What’s in the Jewish bible?
What’s in the story of the Old Testament?
How did Jesus carry the bible forward?
The children discussed that the Bible started in the Old Testament through ancient Jewish scriptures that were masters in literature and answered life’s many unknown questions. We learned and understood that the Jewish Bible referred to as the Tanak referred to all the early workings of the Bible and how the carried and spread Gods word. Then we discussed the varied ways that Jesus carried the story forward to inspire the masses to follow in the footsteps of Christianity. We understood the first person accounts that were written and when Jesus began to carry this story forward we enter the New Testament of the Bible.
