Let’s go Sing Workshop
Today we took part in the Let’s Go Sing workshop with Gaynor where we learned several songs and sang together. We started by warming up our voices and building confidence as a group. Then we enjoyed singing a range of songs, from fun and simple ones that everyone could join in with, to more challenging pieces. Some of our favourites included: • “Let’s Sing a Simple Song” – a cheerful tune that helped us practise singing clearly and in unison. • “Brenda the Mender” – a playful character song that made us focus on rhythm and storytelling through music. • “The Moon” – a gentler song where we worked on expression and soft dynamics. • “The Scuttled Sloop Pirate Song” – a lively piece that let us sing with energy, actions, and a sense of adventure. The workshop showed us that singing is not just about hitting the right notes, but also about teamwork, listening to each other, and enjoying the journey of music together. We are hopeful that the workshop today has encouraged more children to join our KS2 school choir on Thursday lunchtimes and to take part in the Let's Go Sing concert at Blackburn Cathedral in March.
Year 4 - Music: Glockenspiels
This half term, the Year 4 music topic is songwriting with glockenspiels. In this introductory lesson, the children found out a bit about glockenspiels. They then explored some famous soundtracks and learned about how they are written to enhance the events in specific parts of the films and create an emotive response.
Year 6 Junior Jam - French, Music and Computing
This week Year 6 had their first Junior Jam sessions of the new school year. In French, the children recapped some key conversational phrases and learned some new ones, too. In music, they began planning ideas for composing their own song - the children really enjoyed this! In computing, they had a class discussion about what we use the Internet for and were tasked with using code to make changes to HTML on their iPads.

Thank you to the parents and carers who came along to support on such a hot day!
Monday Worship
This week we began our worship thinking about countries that are not as fortunate as ours. Some countries do not have access to food and clean water so we collectively prayed for them as part of the Year of Prayer. Mrs Araujo then introduced our year of prayer class activity which was to think about our achievements from the year and to draw and stick something to reflect that on the window to thank God. We then sang some of our leavers song ready for our special Leavers Service next Friday. The children sounded beautiful.
Monday Worship
Our Monday worship today began with a deep dive into the life of the biblical character David, as the children reflected on his story and offered thanks to God through the joyful sound of musical instruments. The collective voice of the school then resonated with the hymn "Sing a New Song to the Lord," setting a tone of gratitude and adoration. Mrs. Araujo then introduced a new and engaging activity for the "Year of Prayer" class: mirror prayers. The worship continued with singing a variety of school favourites including the ever-popular "School Rules Song" and the uplifting "My Lighthouse." A poignant moment also arose as Year 6 requested to sing l "Leavers' Song." The highlight for many came at the close of worship with an exclusive sneak peek of the much-anticipated Year 6 production of "Annie!" We can't wait to watch the production very soon!
Reception - World Music Day
In celebration of World Music Day on 21st June, Reception took part in a special Rhyme Time. They loved selecting different song characters from the bag and performed with confidence in front of their peers. We talked about how music makes feel and the joy it can bring to others. We have lots of super singers in our class.
Reception- French
Today we had a special visit from our junior jam French teacher who taught us some French through song. We learnt some numbers to 10 and some colours in French. The children really enjoyed it and remembered some French words we’d learnt previously.
Year 6 - Performing Arts
