Well-being Club
For our well-being club this week we started off by making some lovely apple doughnuts. We all enjoyed mixing the ingredients and chopping up the apples and they definitely enjoyed eating them all up after! We then went on a little walk around the school grounds listening to what different sounds we could hear and if we could find a rainbow of colours in the nature around us.
KS2 multi sports
This bunch were amazing on Friday in multi skills! They all participated and tried their best in every sport we tried.Well done boys!
KS1 Forest schools- Week 2
What fun we have all had in Forest school this week! We walked up to Jacks Key, gathering sticks, leaves and grass as we went. Once we found a nice sheltered area the children started to create their nature pictures and faces. Once our art was finished we explored, climbed trees, jumped into lovely mud and washed our wellies in puddles.
DPSSA Netball Finals
A huge well done to our netball superstars who represented the school this evening at the DPSSA Netball Finals at Darwen Vale. The children worked hard over three games in this boiling weather. The children have showed so much commitment in attending netball club, developing skills and tactics in order to grow as players. We came away with silver medals and we are really proud of each and every one of them! Go Team B!
Wednesday Well-being Club
We had so much fun at our first Wednesday Well-being Club! We had a short walk in the sun gathering flowers and leaves to decorate the woven twigs that we made. We talked about using nature and the outdoor world for our health and well-being and felt very relaxed when we arrived back at school.
QUAD kids Athletics at Witton Athletics Track BwD Schools
On Tuesday we went down to Witton Athletics track to take part in the BwD schools quad kids event. The children were exceptionally well behaved, especially in the heat and represented school brilliantly. One of our squad members even managed to throw the vortex further than any other school and 17 took part on the day. We have just received confirmation that we have been awarded with silver medal place - a great result! Well done to our Quad kids Squad!
Craft club
On Monday in craft club we made badges for Father’s Day. We had a lovely first week in craft club and are looking forward to next week.
Forest school
Today during our Forest school club we have had so much fun exploring our Forest school area, adding to the existing dens and decorating them. The children also played games and climbed trees. We tried to keep the children in the shade as much as possible, we also had regular drink and fresh fruit breaks. We’re already looking forward to next week!
DPSSA cross Country Race 2
What a brilliant afternoon we have had at the Darwen Primary Schools Cross Country Race 2. Our squads performed superbly showing excellent sportsmanship, determination and positive attitudes. Some fab placing and all with true Team B smiles on their faces- well done!
Mad Science Club
Today was the last session of Mad Science Club and the children all really enjoyed learning about the density of different liquids today. They carried out group experiments and watched our science expert carry out an experiment too, whilst learning about how different liquids in our seas and rivers can affect the environment. They experienced first-hand, how difficult it is to get oil out of water and got to take home a little souvenir from the lesson at the end of it too.
DPSSA NETBALL GROUP STAGE WINNERS
Huge congratulations to our netball team on winning their group in the DPSSA Netball league at DVHS. Awesome play tonight to achieve two fantastic wins 8-2 and 5-2 against strong competition. They now go on to the grand final after half term. Fingers crossed!
Westholme High 5’s Netball Competition Winners
What an amazing opportunity we have had this afternoon/evening, taking part in Westholme High 5s Netball Competition. After nine back to back games with a total of eight fantastic wins, we WON! A fantastic achievement for the children and their time to shine. It’s days like today that make you so proud to be a part of the St Barnabas family.
