Today in Art, Year 2 continued developing their clay skills by creating and decorating their very own clay tiles. The children began by rolling out their clay using a rolling pin before carefully cutting around a rectangular template to create the shape of their tile.
They then explored different techniques to decorate their work. Using the score and slip technique, they added clay decorations to their tiles, as well as experimenting with a variety of objects to create interesting patterns, textures and imprints.
Next lesson will be their final clay session, where they will bring together all the skills they have developed to design and create their very own clay tile inspired by a house. We can’t wait to see their ideas take shape! 🏠✨
