Year 1 helped to work at a sorting factory. They had a variety of different objects such as beads, cotton wool and straws. They had to fill up as many ten frames as they could and leave any extra ones to the side. To count their number, they counted in tens for the full ten frames and then added the ones. The children absolutely loved sorting these objects and it allowed them to practice their counting skills.
