Year 1 have really enjoyed learning about 3D shapes in maths. They have been learning to identify 3D shapes by name and sort them into groups. They have focused on recognising cubes, cuboids, square-based pyramids, triangular-based pyramids, cones, spheres, cylinders and various prisms such as a triangular prism. They have also worked exceptionally hard to sort them in different ways. For example, we have had children sorting them into can and cannot roll, does have a circular face and doesn’t have a circular face, does have 6 sides and doesn’t have 6 sides, prisms and not prisms and so on…

Well done Year 1! You’ve really impressed us with how quickly you've learnt the names of various 3D shapes and been able to recognise their features.
