Safer Internet Day in Reception
Today, the children in Reception have been learning how to keep safe online. They learnt the importance of not clicking on boxes as you may have to pay for things. They also learnt what a password is and why it is important not to share them. The children read Digiduck and the magic castle and they had a quiz at the end. We also created a ‘Kinder Internet’ spell. Super work and understanding!
Friday Celebration Worship
This week in celebration worship, we have been thinking about how we have been shining our light just as Jesus does and we also sang ‘Shine From the Inside Out’. Reception class also sang the whole school a song in celebration of Chinese New Year. Celebration Worship
This morning in our celebration worship we remembered and prayed for all of the families who were affected by the holocaust. We held a moment of silence and lit a special candle of hope in hope that something so terrible will never happen again. We reflected on how we can make a difference and stand up to hatred by showing kindness, strength and courage. It was wonderful to hear our class teachers tell everyone how the children in their class have been living life in all its fullness this week. What a busy week it has been!

Parent Governor Vacancy
Dear Parents and Carers, just a quick reminder that we have an upcoming parent governor vacancy. The governors play a vital role in supporting and shaping our school and it is a great way to become more involved in the life of our school. Parent governors hold the unique position of having a parental viewpoint of the school. Through their children, they have a first hand experience of the delivery of the curriculum and how the school is perceived from the 'consumers' point of view. If you are interested in joining our local governing committee then please see the attached letter from our Chair of Governors, Jen Frankish. For further information please see our school website: https://www.stbarnabasdarwen.co.uk/key-information/governance For an application form please contact our school office at [email protected] or 01254 702996. The deadline for applications is this Friday 28th January 2022. We look forward to welcoming a new parent to our friendly and supportive local governing committee, to help make St Barnabas the best school it can be. Yours Sincerely, Mrs Ham

Reception’s special visitor - All about Me!
Today we had a special visitor in Reception called Megan, who came to teach us all about our bodies and how we can keep them healthy. We talked about the parts of our bodies, how we can eat healthily, how to keep fit, our feelings and how sleep can help us grow. We also said a big hello to Harold the Giraffe who enjoyed having his teeth brushed by the children and his face cleaned!
Reception - Rock pools
This week we have read the story ‘Sharing a shell’ by Julia Donaldson which is about the creatures that live in a rock pool. The children really enjoyed the story and have had their own rock pool in the small world area. They have been busy acting out the story with their friends and have talked lots about the creatures we might find there.
