Reception say 'hello yellow'!

Why is London the way it is?
In geography, we have been looking at the reasons why London is the way it is today. We have been looking at the physical and human features of geography within London and what we can expect London to be like in the future.
Victorious Viking Art
We love art in Year 5. We particularly enjoy learning about the skills required to create some awesome work. Our Viking longships are looking amazing.
Mental health chatterboxes
Year 5 have been awesome this week. We have made our own little chatterboxes to help us with our worries. We can take time out and do things that we enjoy doing, if we feel a little under the weather.
Deforestation debates
We have been working hard on our ‘Deforestation Debate’ in Year 4 today. So far, we have looked at key language, points for and against and how a piece is structured. We have very different opinions and this has been highlighted in our discussions throughout the week.
Fantastic fossils
Year 3 loved printing with the fossil shapes they made last week out of string.
Symbols of electricity
The children have been learning the symbols involved in circuits. They have understood the need for symbols so that everyone can understand the circuit.
Guided reading
During guided reading, we have been using LBQ for retrieval of information. In our independent groups, we have been loving our class novel “Nightfall on the Somme” Whilst sequencing event and answering open ended questions about the text. In the two guided groups, we have been working on deduction and inference using information texts.
Reception: Exploring our differences in RE
During RE, we have been looking into how God has made us all special and unique. The children were able to discuss and understand what makes us all different. Hair colour, eye colour, and skin colour were the main differences in which the children could identify. However, after looking very closely at our palms through magnifying glasses, the children could see how we all had different hand and thumb prints which make us even more special to our God.
Reception Owl Visit
The children in Reception had a very special visit this afternoon. They met 4 different owls. The children saw burrowing owls, a barn owl and a screech owl called Tyler, Midge, JD and Bobby. The children found their brave and held the owls. They also got to feel an owl feather and watch the owls fly. The children were so polite and well behaved during the visit. A big thank you to SMJ Falconry.
